Hair Masks

A hair mask is a deep conditioning treatment that is designed to strengthen the hair strands. Typically thicker than a regular conditioner, hair masks are formulated with ingredients that offer diverse benefits suited for different hair types. They can be seen as a combination of a conditioner and a treatment, with a formula that stays on the hair longer than a conditioner to provide deeper care. With regular use, hair can become more resilient and experience less breakage, split ends and damage.

A hair mask can be used as an intensive treatment or as a substitute for your regular conditioner, depending on your hair’s needs. If you have thin hair, apply the mask after shampoo and conditioner as a deep conditioning treatment. For thicker hair, you can use the mask in place of conditioner for extra nourishment. After cleansing with shampoo, apply the mask to the mid-lengths and ends, leave it on for at least 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Dry and style as usual for soft, smooth, revitalised hair. Hair masks are usually applied to clean, damp hair so the ingredients can absorb more effectively. Apply from mid-lengths to ends and leave on for the recommended time. If you’re using an oil-based mask, apply it to dry hair so the oils can better penetrate the strands. Always follow the instructions on the product to get the best results.

Hair masks need to be rinsed off to achieve the desired results, and it’s best to follow package directions. Leaving a moisturising mask on for too long can cause moisture overload, potentially weakening and damaging your locks. The exception?
