Hair oil is considered a hair treatment or hair styling product, formulated with natural oils or a blend of oils to nourish hair. Kérastase oils for hair provide essential nutrients and hydration to help smooth, protect and improve the overall look of hair while enhancing manageability and shine.

Kérastase hair oil treatments can be used in a variety of ways to smooth, strengthen and protect your hair. On wet or dry hair, apply hair oil product to lengths to nourish and smooth. If the hair oil treatment contains a hair heat protectant, apply to wet hair before using heat styling tools to avoid heat damage. Other uses include a pre-cleanse for extra hair nourishment, whereby you comb the hair oil product through your mane before using shampoo.

The frequency of hair care oil application depends on your hair type and concerns. In general, we recommend applying hair oil 2-3 times per week for normal to dry hair. For oily hair types, we recommend decreasing frequency and focusing application on the lengths (avoiding roots and scalp).

Pre-cleansing hair with a hair care oil is not essential, but can act as a pre-treatment to maintain hair hydration during shampooing. Apply hair oil to the scalp and ends, and brush to distribute evenly. Rinse, then apply shampoo.

Before bed, apply hair oil to your scalp and lengths, brushing to distribute evenly. We recommend wrapping hair in a silk bonnet or scarf to prevent oil from transferring to your pillow. Depending on how much oil has been applied, you may need to wash your hair the following morning.
