The Coloured Hair Hero: Chroma Absolu Soin Acide Chroma Gloss
The allure of a salon treatment is partly due to the fact that it’s near impossible to recreate the results at home. Alongside the decadence of a good salon experience, it’s that truly glossy, transformed hair appearance that keeps us coming back for more. But what if it were possible to achieve this high-shine, rejuvenated effect between visits? Enter the hero product in our Chroma Absolu range, Soin Acide Chroma Gloss. A first for Kérastase, this innovative at-home hair gloss treatment combines 0.7 lactic acid and anti-inflammatory centella asiatica to create an innovative, multi-purpose formula that promises to hydrate, strengthen and add 70% more shine* – all from the comfort of home.

What is a hair gloss treatment?
A traditional hair gloss treatment coats the hair follicle and can be either pigmented or transparent. A gloss treatment can be carried out at home or in the salon chair to meet your desired outcome, whether that’s to brighten your existing shade or colour correct brassiness. The Soin Acide Chroma Gloss differs from a traditional hair gloss treatment as it offers exfoliation and hydrating benefits alongside the follicle-sealing and protective features of a traditional gloss.
A hair vinegar is another way to achieve that glossy, refreshed hair appearance. Hair vinegar treatments have taken off in recent years, with some of the benefits including promotion of a healthy scalp, reduction of colour fading, strengthening and softening. Hair vinegar works to lower the pH of your hair which increases cell turnover and seal the cuticle to add shine and reduces frizz. There is plenty of overlap between the benefits of a hair vinegar treatment and a hair gloss, with the primary difference being a gloss’ ability to coat strands, protecting hair from moisture and colour loss and creating dramatic shine.
The benefits of using a hair gloss treatment
As we’ve covered, a hair gloss treatment coats the hair cuticle and can add pigment or simply give a reflective sheen. Alongside these perks, our Soin Acide Chroma Gloss works to nourish hair fibres from the inside out, lending serious shine and leaving hair 94% more hydrated and instantly softer*. A hair gloss treatment is an excellent choice for those with coloured hair especially, as you’ll be able to go longer between touch-ups and attain refreshed, saturated colour between salon visits.
Soin Acide Chroma Gloss hero ingredients
Our Soin Acide Chroma Gloss combines the cuticle caring benefits of a gloss with the follicle refreshing, scalp loving abilities of a hair vinegar. This gloss treatment is part of our Chroma Absolu range which aims to tackle hair damage and preserve colour, and contains two hero ingredients to deliver vivid results.
Lactic acid
One of the most important ingredients in our hair shine treatment, lactic acid is responsible for gently exfoliating your strands, allowing moisture to permeate before the follicle is sealed to lock all that hydration in. Lactic acid is a popular and gentle alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) widely used in skincare, and a well-kept secret when it comes to hair and scalp care.
Centella asiatica
Centella asiatica is a healing herb that has been used for thousands of years for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and circulation-boosting properties. Applied via a hair gloss treatment, this regenerative plant can strengthen and soothe hair and support healthy hair growth, even improving hair length and volume over time with regular use.
How to do an at-home hair gloss treatment
With the help of these two ingredients, you can unlock radiant hair at home and keep your colour looking as if you just walked out of the salon. If you’re ready to implement your at-home hair gloss transformation, here’s how:
Step 1. Start with clean, towel-dried hair that is still slightly damp. For an additional shot of colour-protection in this step, we recommend our Chroma Absolu Bain Chroma Respect Shampoo. Applying to slightly damp hair will ensure your strands are receptive to absorbing the product.
Step 2. Using the helpful application tip, apply the treatment to the mid-lengths of your hair. For thick or extra long hair, apply two doses – however much is required to fully saturate your lengths.
Step 3. Leave on for 1-2 minutes and rinse thoroughly. The treatment will effectively replace your fondant, masque, or conditioner step.
Step 4. To lock in the gloss effect and protect hair from heat styling, douse towel-dried hair in our Chroma Absolu Sérum Chroma Thermique – six to ten spritzes depending on the length and thickness of the hair. Gently brush through to evenly distribute the product.
Step 5. Repeat weekly to build on your results over time. To extend the life of your colour even further and add another dose of hair nourishment, introduce the Chroma Absolu Masque Filler Hair Mask into your routine. This dreamy mask will penetrate deep into the hair shaft to fill porous follicles and make your hair softer and shinier.
